Care & Maintenance

Flock Carpets

Flock carpets are manufactured to the highest standards using New Zealand wool and constructed to perform exceptionally; suitable for both heavy domestic and commercial use

As wool is natural, slight shade differences may occur between dye batches of fibre & yarn. An exact match in separate carpet cuts can only be guaranteed if ordered together and requested at the time of order. Orders placed at separate times are likely to be supplied from different dye batches

Installation & Maintenance

To ensure best performance, Flock carpets should be professionally installed; as recommended by your Flock stockist/retailer, who will attend to all aspects of site measurement, underlay and installation

A simple maintenance schedule of vacuuming – frequency according to room activity levels – along with periodic professional cleaning, will maintain your wool carpet’s good looks

Spot & Stain Removal

Immediate action is desirable. Blot up excess liquids or remove solids with a clean colourfast cloth or paper towel

Use a damp sponge to remove and a dry colourfast cloth and dab wet and dry repeatedly. We would suggest the use of a mild ph. balanced detergent with tepid water. Ensure thorough cleaning to remove any residue

If further attention is required, use a proprietary carpet cleaner specified for 100% wool carpets and follow the manufacturer’s instructions

Resistance to soiling can be improved with a stain inhibition treatment applied at the time of installation. Your retailer can advise and organise

Gaïa Rugs

Gaïa rugs and carpets are handmade to the highest standards

Our products are suitable for general domestic and light commercial applications

These products are handmade from natural plant materials. Whilst every effort is made to ensure there is minimal colour variation they are subject to shade variations and will react to environmental factors such as humidity and sunlight over time

Many of the colours in our collection are produced using raw materials in their natural form. These are subject to fading. Direct sunlight may cause further fading on some of the bolder colours

Gaïa fibres do not require watering

Do not use in wet areas

Due to the textured nature of some of our products please consider suitability of use

Care & Maintenance

The longevity of your rug / carpet is ensured by;
• Vacuum regularly – shedding of loose fibre occurs when new
• Promptly blot spills with a clean undyed / colourfast cloth to clean
• Do not Dry Clean – use of chemicals will accelerate the fading of your rug and could damage the fibres
• Avoid direct or continuous exposure to sunlight and rotate your rug to promote even wear
• Professional cleaning is recommended to ensure the rug remains at its best for longer

Spot & Stain Removal

• Starting with water and a soft bristle brush or sponge, gently work on the stained area. A mild Ph balanced detergent with tepid water can be used
• If using detergent ensure that it is cleaned thoroughly to remove any residue
• Blot the treated areas with a colourfast cloth or paper towel to remove excess moisture. Allow to air dry
• Speciality cleaners are available for more persistent stains – follow manufacturer’s instructions

Please note;
• Do not soak, as this may result in water stain marks
• The use of hot water to clean your rug is discouraged
• Do not steam or dry clean your rugs and avoid harsh chemicals to prevent damaging your rug
• These rugs are not machine washable
• Do not use rotary head vacuum cleaners on textured rug products
